STATISTICIAN/DATA ANALYST
(1 year in the first instance, extendable up to five years)


We seek a statistician/data analyst to join the Institute to work
collaboratively in analysing data from several longitudinal studies being
conducted in the UK, the USA and New Zealand, all following children from
birth onwards (or in early life). National Evaluation of Sure Start, our
largest project, is designed to assess the efficacy of a massive,
community-oriented early intervention programme targeted at 260 poor
neighbourhoods throughout England and involving thousands of young children
and their families. Additionally, data from other large-scale longitudinal
studies are also available. Applicant would join a 4-person data analysis
team incorporated into a research team of 70.

The applicant should have a good first degree or postgraduate qualification
in statistics or related field, and a minimum of two years experience
applying statistics in a research environment.  Experience is required in at
least one of the following: SEM, regression analysis, multilevel modelling,
cluster analysis, factor analysis, and latent class analysis.  Applications
are welcome from statisticians across a wide range of experience.

Salary range:   #22,191 to #33,679 p.a. inclusive (plus #2,284 p.a. London
Allowance) dependent on skills and experience.
