Tenure-Stream Assistant Professor Position in the Research Methodology Program School of Education The University of Pittsburgh The Research Methodology Program in the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a quantitative methodologist with interests in educational statistics and psychometrics. The tenure-stream position is at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2005 pending Provost s approval. Strong candidates with experience beyond the beginning Assistant Professor level are also encouraged to submit their credentials. Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in educational research methodology at both entry and advanced levels, maintaining a strong record of scholarship, supervising theses and dissertations, advising students at the master s and doctoral levels, and serving as a resource to the Department, the School and the University. The person hired is expected to effectively teach introductory and advanced quantitative methods. It would be expected that the courses taught would focus not only on the quantitative methods but also their applications to issues relevant to education. The person is also expected to maintain a strong record of scholarship in quantitative methods applied to educational research. An area of research may include (but is not limited to) missing data methodologies, multivariate and categorical data methodologies, Bayesian methodologies such as Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling, and psychometric models. The individual s research should not only focus on the methodologies but also their applications to issues relevant to education and their intersection with psychometrics. The person hired is also expected to participate in relevant educational professional organizations and to engage in internal and/or community service activities.
