Senior Researcher in Imaging, Research Statistics Unit - Harlow, Essex

In this key, global role, you'll undertake fundamental research and
provide technical consultancy advice to the R&D business

You'll have a PhD on a statistical or mathematical topic, at least three
years' research experience (in academia or elsewhere) and a list of
research publications. You will have a proven ability in the statistical
methodology of image analysis or a relevant related area such as spatial
statistics, pattern recognition or multidimensional classification  and
will  be an experienced person with excellent communication skills and
team-working abilities.

You'll need to have good decision-making skills, strong technical
knowledge and be able to work independently. The ability to apply your
knowledge to practical issues  is essential. A good publication record
showing expertise in functional or pharmacological neuroimaging is an
advantage, as is experience of writing or using relevant software. (Having
research interests in the design and analysis of studies that use Positron
Emission Tomography and /or pharmacological Magnetic Resonance Imaging
studies will be also be an advantage.)

You will work with other researchers within the Research Statistics Unit
and with imaging scientists throughout the company. In addition, you will
help in the provision of a general statistical consultancy service to
other GSK statisticians and scientists. Good interpersonal and
communication skills are therefore essential.

Experience in the design and analysis of clinical trials in general is an
advantage, as is  one or more of the following: good computing skills.
knowledge of computational statistics and epidemiology.
