Below is an announcement of two vacancies in the Mathematics Department
at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

These posts are open to suitably qualified statisticians. In the applied
research area there are exciting opportunities for collaborative work
in bioinformatics, medical statistics, and environmental statistics.

LECTURESHIP (above the bar/below the bar) in MATHEMATICS and LECTURESHIP
(below the bar) in MATHEMATICS at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the above (two)
positions.
To be considered for the lectureship above the bar candidates must have a PhD,
have an established international reputation with quality research in quality
journals, have a number of years experience of lecturing and teaching at
university undergraduate and graduate level and/or experience working as a
professional mathematician.. To be considered for the lectureship(s) below the
bar, candidates must have a PhD, evidence of research and research potential
with articles published or pending and experience of teaching/lecturing at
University level and/or experience working as a professional mathematician.

The Department runs full degree programmes in both the Arts and Science
faculties and is also the major contributor to the denominated degrees in
Mathematical Science/Computer Science and in Financial Mathematics &
Economics. It also runs service courses in the Science, Engineering and
Commerce faculties.The successful candidates will be expected to have the
abiltiy to contribute to and lecture on  the many aspects of these programmes.
Candidates are required to have excellent lecturing ability and must be
willing to undertake teaching at all levels.
The Department also runs masters' courses in Mathematics and in Communications
Systems and has a full PhD programme.
Applications are welcome from persons with research interests in any area of
mathematics  or statistics.
The current research interests of the department are in Algebra, Analysis,
Geometry/Topology, Statistics.
