The purpose of this message is to draw attention to a 'Calls for Proposals' from the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) in Edinburgh. The Centre has been in existence for a number of years and has hosted many short workshops, including some in Statistics. It can be thought of as a short-workshop version of the Newton Institute, the latter specialising in larger-scale long programmes. What is now different is that for the first time the ICMS has won EPSRC funding, awarded directly to the Centre, to support workshops over the next four years, to the tune of up to 8 workshops per year, each involving about 30-35 people; of course more people might be able to attend if they have their own funding and if there is space. Until now the organisers of workshops accepted by the ICMS Programme Committee have then had to seek their own funding. As the 'Call' explains, applications to hold workshops will be rigorously refereed, but once approved will qualify for funding without having to seek support separately. There is therefore strong encouragement to take advantage of this opportunity.
