Hi Carol and Dave

it is good news if the DRC information is imminent. However I do think that Dave's initial document could provide a starting point for debate on access statements - what we feel should be in them, how they should be created; at what points they should be tied to in the design and development process, how they should be monitored, what should happen to them on completion.

Obviously when the DRC material emerges we can then develop this debate further.

I for one am in involved in producing access statements now and therefore would find such discussion beneficial, although Carol I do take your point that having various documents may cause confusion.

So my suggestion is to use Dave's material to discuss aspects of access statements in use.

Regards
Marcus

Hi Carol
Ok we'll hold off. The reason we went ahead was because the DRC did not respond to any e-mails asking about the matter and the time for action was passing by

Re access statements guidance. The DRC guidance on this is a little delayed but will be out very soon (hopefully in the next week or so) and will be available on the DRC web site. It has been produced with input from several key organisations so I don't think there is any need to produce another set of guidance which may differ and thus confuse issues, and by the time it is ready the DRC guidance should be out.
Hope this helps,
Carol

Subject: Access Satements Draft Consultation

Hi All

As we are all aware Access Statements are now required for all planning applications. Part M 2004 stated that the DRC would provide guidance this has not been forthcoming, therefore in order that companies meet with similar requirements throughout the UK I have knocked together the attached Access Statement Form and it's accompanying explanatory notes.
Due to time factors this is in a rough draft format but is I hope sufficient for those interested to comment. If the consensus is favourable I propose to finalise these documents after people have had a chance to comment. This will then be sent to the DRC for final review.

Thanks
Dave Croft
