Jonathan's guess about Nunn & Egypt was on the ball (of course). Dr John F Nunn's book does have a passing (?) mention of the external application of urine as a treatment in ancient Egypt. But the eminent gasman said rather more about honey, including references. He quoted the application of honey both as an antimicrobial agent (presumed to be an osmotic effect), and also as a promoter of wound healing. Best wishes, Les Les Honey has been used with success in treating wounds and leg ulcers amongst other things.
