The primary issue here is the interpretation of pH in those patients
whoactually have an NG tube in place.
The majority of those will be stressed inpatients who are already on a PPI
or H2 antagonist, and hence the use of the gastic pH measurement is often
uninterpretable, as both medications can  raise you gastic pH to levels
greater than 5.

Hence the rocommendation should be inital X ray, and then daily pH AND
gurgle test in those on acid suppresant.
