Quite. Generally pts assume that the clinicians they deal with, either conscious or unconcscious, are qualified or under supervised training. Nursing schools, med schools, physio schools or their relevant Trusts make this clear in their literature but also make it clear the pt has a right not to have their privacy invaded by anyone they don't want and that certainly includes students from school. I can well remember the days when x6 med students doing thier gynae attachment would PV a lady under anaesthetic without any permission at all. Legally that was common assault as is a gross invasion of privacy like a school student watching one's guts being operated on. I'm surprised the surgeon let this go onto BBC1!
