Transport Research Institute, Napier University, Edinburgh Research Studentships There are three funded studentships available for a period of up to 3 years, in the cross-faculty Transport Research Institute, starting in autumn 2004. The first studentship is in transport psychology and is in the area of driver behaviour. The student would be working under the direction of Professor Steve Stradling of the School of Psychology and Sociology, alongside research staff and students currently looking at the effects and effectiveness of safety cameras on drivers. The second studentship, which covers stipend plus fees at UK/EU rate only, is funded by the School of the Built Environment and is in the area of transport modeling, working under the direction of Professor Mike Maher. The topic of research will either be in dynamic stochastic traffic assignment and departure time choice modelling; or methods for measuring and accelerating convergence in Monte Carlo-based stochastic user equilibrium traffic assignment. A further research studentship may be available to an appropriate UK/EU candidate, in an area that would be agreed between student and prospective supervisors.
