Dear All I have been asked by my trust to find out what other NHS trusts do regarding smoking for staff, visitors, contractors and staff. I apologise to anybody not working in a NHS trust, but your thoughts would be appreciated. However, for those working in NHS trusts we have the added problem of controlling the smoking habits of visitors and patients when they are quite stressed due to illness. We currently have smoking shelters installed at my trust, but people still seem to be smoking everywhere. No one is willing to 'police' the smokers, so we are looking at reverting to a total smoke free policy again. However, this hasn't worked previously as the smokers went 'underground' so to speak, which presented us with a fire risk.
