************************************************************** ANNOUNCEMENT ***************************************************************** A two-day short-course on hierarchical modelling of spatial and temporal data *************************************************************** to be given by Professor Alan Gelfand (Duke University, USA), Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI) University of Southampton, Southampton, UK, Monday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 24, 2005. This two-day course will provide an overview of current ideas in statistical inference methods appropriate for analysing various types of spatially point referenced data which may also vary temporally. A number of real life data sets covering environmental pollution monitoring, epidemiological disease mapping, and social and economic problems such as movement of house price will be used as running examples in the course. For further information about the short-course, see the website: http://www.maths.soton.ac.uk/s3ricourse/ The short-course will be followed by a workshop on recent advances in modelling spatio-temporal data. The aim of the workshop is to discuss recent developments in modelling spatio-temporal data across a wide range of application areas and identify directions for future work. The workshop will feature oral presentations by several international experts, poster presentations and round table discussion groups. For further information see the workshop website http://www.maths.soton.ac.uk/s3riwshop/ The numbers of participants on both the workshop and the short-course are strictly limited, and for this reason we encourage you to register as soon as possible. Information and registration forms are available from the above websites.
