want to join the market leader. We are seeking either experienced or NEW
graduates for a NON Clinical role:

Technical

1.1 To contribute to the design of studies:
(a)  Providing statistical designs as necessary,
(b)  Making experimenters aware of the limitations of as well as the
scope of proposed protocols.

1.2 To provide study analyses (interim or final), with a proper
emphasis upon:
(a)  Thorough preliminary review of data,
(b)  Ensuring the methods are suitable for the scientific questions
being posed,
(c)  Assessing the validity of assumptions underlying the methods,
(d)  Providing clear oral and written reports of the results of analyses
and their interpretation.

1.3 To advise and assist scientists to:
(a)  Select methods to summarise and analyse their data,
(b)  Use statistical software,
(c)  Interpret statistical findings.

1.4 To review, adapt or develop methods to support discovery scientists
in their work.

1.5 To collaborate in the design, preparation and presentation of
statistical training for scientists.

1.6 To write statistical programs which allow scientists to carry out
their own analyses.

1.7 To review the statistical components of company documents and
scientific papers in preparation for publication.

1.8 To review published statistical software prior to its use by
scientists.

1.9 To have a thorough working knowledge of the statistical software
used to facilitate design and analysis, e.g. Statgraphics, SAS, WinBUGS or
GENSTAT5.

2. Co-ordination

2.1 Work with the supervisor to agree the statistical input to the
projects.

2.2 Work with the supervisor and scientific project leaders to agree
the scheduling of statistical work.

2.3 Liaise with the application programmers in the Department of
Research Information in the design, writing, testing and documentation of
statistical software.

3. General

3.1 To have an intelligent awareness of the scientific background
through discussion with project scientists.

3.2 To be up-to-date with relevant statistical methods in the
literature.

3.3 To take opportunities to persuade scientists of the value of
statistical thinking in their work.

3.4 To contribute to, and give presentations at, relevant project
meetings.

3.5 To contribute to the statistical work of the department and take a
full part in departmental issues.

3.6 Be aware of the Pfizer standards, procedures and working practices
relevant to the role of the statistician in the Discovery and Development
Group.
