'In
the Remove' is used by some schools to isolate young people misbehaving in their
class or the school yard. There is
supposed to be a '3 strikes' warning system, but the young people reported that
this procedure was often ignored. A
young person ‘in the remove’ is required to spend a day or more confined to a
room usually with no one else other than a member of staff. They are not allowed to take breaks and
must eat their lunch in that room.
