..and if we’re talking text books, Elizabeth Parker’s “Managing Your Organisation’s Records” is pretty good too.

I’ve also found the BSI guide to Freedom of Information a useful document (well at least those chapters that have so far been published!) – it includes a chapter on RM.

Good morning

I would have to say Shepherd and Yeo's book on RM (2003) and Records Management Handbook by Penn, Pennix and Coulson (1994) and the BS Code of Practice on Data Protection.

well for me the Freedom of Information Act is no 1 but then I am in a public authority, suggest Publication Records Act also for the same reasons.

Also, Environmental Information Regulations, Computer Misuse Act, Human Rights Act, RIPA and not forgetting the wonderful Data Protection Act.

Subject: Records Management - Top 20

It has been suggested that we should publish a "Records Management - Top 20" article in the RMS Bulletin and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for the books, articles, standards, training materials etc that you would see as absolute essentials in any Record Managers Library, and key components of our top 20 list?

Please note that the more suggestions received for the same item, the higher up the list it will be placed - and the closer it will get to the cherished number one spot!

Many thanks for all your help on this!

Best Wishes,

Paul
