Hello Everyone, I am writing to bring your attention to the following article which appeared on the Guardian's WWW site yesterday. http://education.guardian.co.uk/higher/research/story/0,9865,1074277,00.html The article highlights the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE)'s new proposals which, if implemented, would adversely affect Earth Science south of the border. Clearly, the main implication of the change in funding is that many of the remaining Geology departments in England would face closure. I thought that the article might be of interest to all structural geologists with an interest in seeing Earth Sciences survive in the UK. Best Wishes John Professor John Underhill Grant Institute of earth Science, School of Geosciences, The University of Edinburgh, King's Buildings West Mains Road, Edinburgh EH9 3JW, UK [log in to unmask]
