Seminar reminder
PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO STAFF AND STUDENTS IN YOUR FACULTY WHO MAY BE INTERESTED

The next seminar in the series Cultural History and Literary Imagination will take place on Friday 17 October at 5pm in the Dirac Room, St John's College. Margaret Rose (Clare Hall) will give a paper entitled 'Industrialism enters art: the case of Theodor Mintrop'.

Margaret Rose has published several books on subjects which range from the aesthetics of Karl Marx to the theory of postmodernism and the history of parody down the ages, and she has a particular expertise in the art of the 19th century. Theodor Mintrop (1814-1870) was a member of the Düsseldorf "Malkasten" association of artists, and Margaret's paper draws on the research she did in connection with a newly discovered collection of drawings by Mintrop, "Das Album für Minna", which she has published in a commentated volume this year with the German Aisthesis publishing house.
