Dear list, I am interested in the potential development of Computer-aided learning* (CAL) for A&E SHOs in the UK. I would be very interested to hear from list-members, about their experiences of CAL (positive or negative), particularly if anyone has tried to develop CAL formally as part of SHO training. Also, do list members think that CAL should be developed in the UK and if so, how? I'd also be grateful for any unpublished data that might be around, as well as any good online CAL resources (which I will share with the list). Regards, Hugo Poncia * A CAL application may be a program and/or group of computer based resources that aims to teach people I've attached a few URLs for those that are interested: Examples of online Interactive case presentations/ scenarios/ simulators http://www.netmedicine.com/cyberpt/acls/al2-001.html ACLS simulator http://www.acls.net/ ACLS simulator http://www.trauma.org/resus/moulage/moulage.html trauma moulages http://www.medschool.soton.ac.uk/emed/ Southampton University simulated cases, may require download of software. http://www.mdchoice.com/cyberpt/cyber.asp Cyberpatient simulator (also other learning resources, ECG, photo rounds, requires registration) http://medstat.med.utah.edu/neurologicexam/cases/home_cases.html interactive neurological cases from the university of Utah http://medstat.med.utah.edu/tommy/case1a/ interactive paediatric cases http://education.auntminnie.com/amcme/QMachine.ASP?UID=AUNTMI01 on-line radiology teaching cases and CME, requires registration CAL development resources http://www-medlib.med.utah.edu/kw/tools.html downloadable CAL development tools http://w3.abdn.ac.uk/generictools/index.shtml links to web-authoring software from Aberdeen CAL http://w3.abdn.ac.uk/generictools/resources/links.shtml links to existing applications http://w3.abdn.ac.uk/webcal/ mini engines for rapid CAL authoring http://w3.abdn.ac.uk/webcal/index_clin.htm advice for CAL content authors http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/ITS/CAL/calgeneral.html introduction to CAL at University of St Andrews http://www.gsm.com <http://www.gsm.com/> .
