Well there will be a lot of emergency nurse practitioners to do the work
of the SHO's. I for one will also be one of an increasing number of
SPR's trundling off the production line.

Probably still will not be enough to deal with ever increasing numbers
of attendances likely to rise further with the implementation of the new
Consultant contract.

Subject: 2 year pre-registration posts

I've just been invited to a meeting to discuss the introduction of the 2
yr pre-reg posts starting August 2005. That will mean them rotating
through A&E for 4 mths in their 2nd year.

I get the impression that these posts will be instead of our existing
SHO posts. It looks like the Educationalists have ignored the concerns
raised by our professional bodies.

Anyone got any ideas how this can be managed when we can't recruit
Consultants and Staff Grades at the moment. I suppose it won't effect us
till August 2006.... but it will come around soon.

Perhaps there are some Post-Graduate Tutors out there that can throw us
a few crumbs of comfort??

Yours worried
