with apologies for cross-posting: Venue: The Meeting Place, 153 Drummond Street, London NW1 2PB This training course is intended for records management practitioners who are seeking to deepen their knowledge of specific key elements of the records management function. It also provides an opportunity to network with other professionals in the field. It builds on the Introduction to Records Management session in the Basic Archive Skills Training Day and on the Records Management and Digital Records training course. It assumes reasonable knowledge and experience of organizational records management programmes. The seminar examines four key areas of records management. It begins with a treatment of legal issues, focusing on Data Protection and Freedom of Information but including other legislation affecting records management. Records Management standards are then covered in a practical exercise designed to develop audit tools for RM programmes. There is an appraisal and retention schedule workshop and to ensure maximum benefit, participants should bring examples of lists of file series or record survey documentation. Finally the seminar will consider vital records management and business continuity planning. The seminar advocates managing all records according to the same principles regardless of media so there is no separate coverage of digital records. Therefore a short info~byte highlighting the main considerations in managing records series across media is also included. The course fee of £129.25 (inc. VAT) includes course notes and useful sources for further information. The fee also includes lunch (with vegetarian option, please let the directors know if you have any other special dietary needs) and tea and coffee.
