medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture Like many individuals, medieval-religion has recently faced a spate of messages indicating much antisocial activity in cyberspace. JISCmail keeps a close watch on postings coming in to the list, and will delete everything that looks suspect -- even postings that appear to come from known users. This is in addition to the usual spam-detection and anti-virus software that the server provides. If you should receive a message with a suspect attachment, unusual title, dubious formatting or uncharacteristic content that purports to come from the list or from the moderators, be aware that it may be a case of e-mail address theft. As always, the advice is not to open any attachments you are not sure of, and to make sure that your anti-virus software is up to date. For those working at home, it may be useful to know that McAfee offer a free downloadable utility that detects recent viruses and worms and is updated very regularly. It can be found at: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/. The download takes a few minutes. As per our usual modus operandi, DO NOT SEND MESSAGES WITH ATTACHMENTS TO THE LIST.
