medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture Somewhere in the archive will be a thread that I started a couple of years ago called, I think, 'chastity in marriage'. My recollection is that chaste marriages involved fidelity, refraining from unlawful sexual acts and sexual activity on feast days etc. I don't think we got round to celibacy, but total abstinence would probably come under that heading.
