italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies

With sincere apologies for cross-posting, I enclose some details about a
conference which will take place next year at the Prato Campus of Monash
University.

MURDER AND MAYHEM IN THE MARE NOSTRUM; CONTEMPORARY CONFIGURATIONS OF
MEDITERRANEAN DETECTIVE GENRES
5-7 July 2004. Monash University, prato Campus (Florence)

An international conference organised between Manchester Metropolitan
University and Monash University devoted to literary and cinematic
detective genres from any country bordering the Mediterranean. We are
seeking original, unpublished papers of twenty minutes' duration on any
aspect of late 20th-century or 21st-century fiction and film within the
genre, or the representation and symbolic value of the Mediterranean in
detective fiction and film from other areas.

The official language of the conference is English. All abstracts and
papers must be in English.

Please submit a one-page abstract as a Word document to the appropriate
memnber of the conference panel by 1st November 2003. The abstract
should be in the following format:

*   saved as an A4 sized file (not letter size)
*   margins of 1" (2.54 cm) all round;
*   title of paper centred top 14-pt font;
*   followed on alternate lines by: your name, institutional
affiliation, e-mail address (valid for at least a further year); all
centred, 12-pt font;
*   body of text in Times New Roman 12-pt font; fully justified.
