Apologies for any cross-posting.

I am undertaking a systematic review of the evidence base relating to the employment and skills problems of deprived neighbourhoods (DNs) and the effectiveness of interventions to address those problems. The purpose of the review is to critically assess the existing research evidence and identify the implications for policy development and key knowledge gaps.

The review deliberately has a 'supply-side' focus and addresses four main questions:
*Why is there low take-up of available jobs by people in DNs?
*To what extent and why are there differences in take-up of jobs between different kinds of DNs in different part of the country?
*What are the most effective mechanisms for linking up areas of employment need with areas of employment opportunity, and why?
*What are the most effective institutional forms to connect people in DNs with jobs?

The main focus of the review is on the UK but I am also keen to include key research evidence from the USA, Australasia, other OECD countries and continental Europe.

I am following as many avenues as possible to identify relevant research in the published and 'grey literature' realms so I would be grateful for references to work of which list members are aware. I will reciprocate by eventually making available the resulting bibliography.

Many thanks.
