From the LTSN Subject Centre for Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. It would be good to have some critical geographer perspectives on these sort of issues.
Best wishes
John

*****'Enhancing Student Employability'*****

(A South-West Regional Conference sponsored by ESECT,
LTSN-GEES and the University of Plymouth)

Tuesday September 16th 2003
The Robbins Conference Centre, University of Plymouth

Why is this conference important?

Enhancing student employability is a key priority for higher education. The government and employers are looking for an increased supply of graduates capable of making an effective contribution to the nation's economic welfare. Students expect to acquire the skills to enhance their employability in a competitive and rapidly changing labour market.

How will you benefit from attending?

By attending this conference delegates should be able to:

*       Help lead the employability debate and stimulate change within their own institutions/departments;
*       Explore trends in the national and South-west's graduate labour market;
*       Highlight approaches to enhancing student employability within and outside the academic curriculum;
* Network with ESECT, the RDA and other staff and agencies involved in the employability debate.

Who should attend?

This conference will be relevant to everyone with an interest in enhancing student employability including senior managers, policymakers, HE & FE lecturers, careers advisers, graduate recruiters, placement officers, staff developers, volunteer co-ordinators and relevant government agencies. Although the event has a South-West focus in the afternoon, colleagues from other parts of the country are most welcome to attend.

How much does it cost?......It's free!

Registering is simple - just visit: www.gees.ac.uk/esect.htm and complete the online form. Here, you will also find a full programme.
