Please find below a call for papers for a special issue of the International
Journal of Drug Policy on "social theory in drug use research and harm
reduction". The special issue seeks to include papers on the topics of:
governmentality; risk; embodiment; consumption; spatiality; and social
capital, as well as reviews exploring the contribution of sociology,
anthropology and historical studies.

Please let either myself ([log in to unmask]) or David Moore
([log in to unmask]) know should you be interested in submitting a
title and abstract.

Please also feel free to the circulate the call to others you think may be
interested in contributing.

SPECIAL ISSUE: SOCIAL THEORY IN DRUG RESEARCH AND HARM REDUCTION
Guest edited by David Moore (Australia) and Tim Rhodes (UK). Outline
abstracts (no more than 250 words) are invited for contributions to a
forthcoming special issue of The International Journal of Drug Policy on the
role of social theory in drug research and harm reduction. We invite four
types of contribution:
    *   scientific review papers (max 8,000 words)
    *   original empirical papers (max 7,000 words)
    *   policy and/or historical analysis (max 6,000 words) and
    *   commentary (max 5,000 words)
We are especially interested in receiving contributions on the following
topics and their relevance to drug research and harm reduction:
    *   social capital
    *   governmentality/poststructuralism
    *   embodiment
    *   consumption
    *   spatiality/cultural geography
    *   discourse analysis
    *   risk
    *   structure/agency and
    *   the contributions of anthropology, history and sociology to
drug research and harm reduction.

The deadline for submission of outline abstracts is 31 July 2003.
Queries and outline abstracts should be e-mailed to David Moore at

the deadline for completion of draft contributions is 31 November 2003. The
special issue will be published in 2004.
