Hello everyone
The EIA is considering publishing a seventh edition of
'Eurojargon' and we'd like your views.
For those of you who don't know the publication, 'Eurojargon' is a dictionary of acronyms and abbreviations of EU related terms. Its first six editions were compiled and edited by Anne Ramsay who
was EDC Librarian at the University of Northumbria, UK. The sixth edition
had 384 pages and 4,000 entries. The seventh edition will have
approximately 20% more.
Below are some example entries:
FEFSI Fédération Européenne
des Fonds et Sociétés d'Investissement (EFIFC - European Federation of Investment Funds and Companies).
18 Square de Meeûs, B-1050 Brussels,
Belgium.

First Banking Directive First Council Directive
77/780/EEC of 12 December 1977 on the coordination of the laws, regulations and
administrative provisions relating to the taking up and pursuit of the business
of credit institutions (OJ L322/1977). No longer in force.
Fortress Europe Phrase used by US businesses in the run-up to the Single Market (SEM) to refer to Europe's perceived protectionist
stance. Since used in other contexts, including enlargement and
immigration.
Producing a printed version would be a big undertaking
for the EIA and we will only do it if we are sure it's going to sell
successfully. We would therefore appreciate your opinions as to whether or not you would be interested in buying a copy if we were to publish
it. It would probably sell for approximately 50 euro
(£35).
If you have any thoughts about this, I would
be delighted to hear from you! We really need to know if members
would find this publication of use and I'd appreciate any comments by Friday 30
May.
Best wishes
Catherine
