These formulae were originally worked out for "The way ahead 1998", Paul. Basically it was felt that "an SHO scheduled for 40 hours of shopfloor work per week may attend to 3500 patient per annum". After calculating for leave etc, this amounts to around 2 patients per hour. This was termed a "service equivalent" or SE.

SHO = 1 SE
SpR = 0.3 SE
SG = 0.5 SE (for first post with 1 SE for each additional post)
