Comments sought: I have been reading, re-reading, and relishing RK's Departmental Ditties. I wonder if the 'comely maid' of the 'As the bell clinks' ( Departmental Ditties) - a puzzling poem, turned out to be the 'Maggie' of 'The Betrothed'? Coupled by a tonga-bar and then balanced against a butt of a dead cigar ! Regards Michael Jefferson
