Hi Gerald, Yes I am a member of BACP. Pupils whose parents live abroad are very likely to regard female teachers as being temporary 'mums' and talk to them about their anxieties - so I don't regard myself as being anything special as such. Interestingly there are currently three female teachers in the music department with an interest in psychotherapy. Well I suppose we have to have empathic qualities in order to be musicians in the first place, so perhaps that's also why we so easily fall into the role of counsellor too.
