Lower Limb Rehabilitation for Sports, 31 May 2003University of Nottingham

– Apologies for cross posting.

The National Sports Medicine Institute of the UK (NSMI) is a registered medical charity that, in partnership with Osteopathic Sports Care Association (OSCA) run national programmes of post registration education.

This is a new one daycourse is designed to cover the rehabilitation of lower limb injury from the initial onset through to the return to full fitness.

It particularly concerns the identification of the cause of the injury due to poor biomechanics and the strategies to correct this. Exercise progression, particularly when and how, is often a difficult decision to make. The course discusses how these decisions can be made and the ways in which tissues can be loaded to produce regeneration without further damage.

The treatment and rehabilitation of chronic tendon and muscular injury is described in detail with reference to common problems in the lower limb such as Achilles Tendonopathy.

Objectives

For the delegate to be able to;

¨Recognise the cause and severity of injury

¨Be able to create a plan for the early, mid and late stages of rehab

¨Be confident in the treatment of chronic and recurrent injury

Course Fee:(including all lectures and practical workshops, buffet lunch, and refreshments)

OSCA member                                      £90.00              Non member OSCA       £110.00
