WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT IN THE LIBRARY & INFORMATION DOMAIN
Tuesday 20 May 2003, 10.15am to 3.45pm
  Stamford, near Peterborough

CPI Library and Information Policy Seminar

The context for this cross-sectoral seminar is the widespread concern about
the challenges facing the L+I domain, e.g. recruitment and retention,
leadership, re-skilling, CPD, portfolio careers, the changing role of
'librarians', the use of volunteers, and the roles of library schools,
Resource and the Regional Agencies.

Key issues to be explored include Resourcešs work in developing a workforce
strategy, the workforce issues being identified by a Regional Agency,
skills, leadership, and comparisons with archives and museums.

Target audience: library and information managers across the sectors,
Regional Agencies, government bodies, library schools, and independent
consultants. Opportunities for discussion and debate are built in
throughout the day.

SPEAKERS:
Gina Lane, Senior Adviser, Quality Standards, Resource
Chris Wild, South East Museum, Library & Archive Council
Bob Usherwood, Department of Information Studies, Sheffield University
John Pluse, Chief Executive, isNTO (Information Services National
    Training Organisation)
