Dear Colleagues,
This is to draw your attention to a post-congress
field trip of the 32nd International Geological Congress in August
2004. I am leading a 6-day field trip to the blueschists, eclogites and
tectonics of northwest Turkey. The field trip will be a modified version
of the successful 1998 Metamorphic Studies Group field trip to the same
region. The highlights include regional
jadeite-chloritoid-lawsonite-glaucophane blueschists, aragonitized limestones,
purple jades with K-feldspar and jadeite, Triassic eclogites, Oligo-Miocene core
complex with eclogites on the hangingwall, sutures and melanges. More
