A PhD fellowship  (EUR12k per annum) in Geography is available from the newly established Centre for Innovation and Structural Change, National University of Ireland, Galway (www.nuigalway.ie/cisc).

The Geography research cluster is focused on Internationally Traded Services. The goals of this cluster are (i) to analyse  the spatial pattern of foreign direct investment in internationally traded services (ITS) in Ireland, (ii) to assess the ‘embeddedness’ of ITS investment in the local economy and the role of indigenous firms in supply chain activity, outsourcing and penetration of global markets, (iii) to identify the public policy implications relating to spatial strategy, and (iv) to pursue new teaching and learning initiatives on the theme of the information economy. Sectors to be studied will include software, teleservices, shared services and financial services.

Preference will be given to applicants with a Masters degree or equivalent in human/economic geography.

Consult website (www.nuigalway.ie/cisc) for details. For informal discussion contact Dr Seamus Grimes ([log in to unmask]) Telephone: 353-91-512148
