Mrs Averil Murray has written to us about a silk-covered souvenir programme for "The Absent-Minded Beggar" she has discovered among her late father's books. It was printed in 1899, and presented by Lily Langtry at the Garrick Theatre to raise money for the families of the men fighting in the South African War.

The programme, which is in excellent condition, includes the words of the poem printed in RK's handwriting, and the famous drawing of "a gentleman in kharki". Mrs Murray is glad to offer it to Kipling collectors. If you are interested in acquiring it, please write to her at Collum End Farm, 88 Church Road, Leckhampton, Cheltenham, GL53 0PD, or telephone to 01242 528008.
