Unless you want to develop your own system, you might look at some of the PRO approved systems which offer the sort of tracking, labelling and control features which you want. I was struck by what Diagonal Systems offer in their Wisdom product. If we had a large volume of this sort of thing to do, I should certainly want some kind of support like this.
