We have a Community Archaeologist with a specific remit to work in the
historic medieval town of Hartlepool. The main focus of the work is to get
local people involved in researching the history and archaeology of the area
through training, providing resources and advising on funding sources.

The project is funded through the Single Regenereation Budget (SRB), hence
it geographical restriction, but we are currently developing a bid to extend
the project across our entire area with HLF funding.

I seem to remember a number of community archaeologist posts to encourage
archaeological work by amateur groups etc being supported by the HLF over
the last few years. Can anyone supply me with examples, and, if possible,
with basic job descriptions

Many thanks,

Mike Shaw
