Hi Veronica, At Durham we have been running a project called Time Detectives with funding from the New Opportunities Study Support Fund. Basically we are now in our third year of the project which involves socially and geographically isolated young people and their families in archaeology, through archaeological and historical investigation, which includes excavation, building and earthwork survey and historical/archaeological research. The first year was an excavation of a med/post med manor site and last year we taught earthwork survey on a number of sites, we haven't quite decided what we will be doing this year yet.... We are also applying for funding to carry on this scheme in another guise. The project has been really well recieved and it also gets me out of the office for three weeks...... If you want to know any more drop me a line....
