It incorporates three main subject areas: sociology, social policy and women's studies. The School is pleased to offer University scholarships for full-time graduate research (PhD) beginning in September 2003. Applications are welcomed in any subject area in which the School has expertise. Preference may however be given to applications in the Schools four priority areas of: State Power and Conflict, Health Welfare and Inequalities, Gender Sexuality and Identity, and Life Stages and Life Styles. Applicants must have or expect to obtain at least a 2.1 honours degree or equivalent in Sociology, Social Policy, Womens Studies or a cognate subject. The Scholarships are open to UK, EU and Overseas applicants. They provide fees (home rate) and maintenance of £9,000 p.a (tax free) for three years.
