                  'Child poverty and child health'

Abstract
The seminar will examine the extent of child poverty in Britain, how it
has changed, and the impact of policy to reduce child poverty 1997-
2003. Then the relationship between child poverty and inequalities in
child health will be considered. Finally the respective role of anti-
poverty policies and of health-focussed policies in improving child
health will be discussed.

London School of Economics since 1970. From 1974-79 he worked
for the Prime Minister's Policy Unit as Social Policy Adviser. He has
also worked with CPAG, ILO, OECD and WHO.

Professor Piachaud’s most recent publication was Understanding
Social Exclusion (OUP, 2002, jointly edited with John Hills and Julian
LeGrand) and his most recent research has been on the impact of
government policies on child poverty since 1997.
