Prescription charges in the UK this time 15 years ago, 2/88, were £2.40. Since then, retail prices have risen by approximately 75%, so what do people pay for their prescription now? Not £4.20, but £6.20. Good way to stop illness, make it unaffordable. But at least we have cheap food here. Beef at 172p a kilo, pork loin at 95p a kilo, carrots at 16p a kilo, onions at 17p a kilo, milk at 9p a litre, peas at 17p a kilo, and bargain basement, potatoes at just 5p a kilo. Where to buy this food? Oh, sorry, forgot to mention, that's the price the supermarkets pay the farmers (Guardian, 9/11/02, p.9). Now visit your local Tesco and compare. On second thoughts, don't.
