there were more than "stalls" on the bridges, were there not?

actual houses, with "stalls" on the ground floor ?

favored by goldsmiths, i believe (though i've forgotten where i picked that
up).

as i mentioned before, that article i came across (where??) on the price of
Parisian houses mentioned ones on the bridges being the most expensive, even
more expensive than stone ones on dry land.

>ps3: In this connection, does anybody in this list know, how the
hand-barrows for carrying relics and religious statues, used in processions
etc, were called in medieval Latin? "Ferculum" once more?

i don't know what term was used, but would like to hear of it so that i can do
a search in the digital P.L. & AASS.

i have a special interest in reliquary/statue processions, since they are
depicted on several pilgrims' badges surviving from....where else?...Chartres
:

eg., the great reliquary containing the _camisia_ of the Virgin, being carried
on a "bier" :

and an important cult statue being carried in the same fashion :

got a clue as to the appropriate word, John?
