2. SUBJECT CENTRE WORKSHOP: Intercultural Learning and the role of
Visual Media
31 January 2003 - CILT, Covent Garden, London.

The Subject Centre would like to invite you to participate in our
forthcoming interdiscipinary event on the various uses, in
undergraduate teaching, of visual media - film television and other
visual representations - to promote intercutural awareness as part
of a programme in area, transnational or postnational studies. It
will particularly explore the inter-disciplinary interfaces between
film, media and cultural studies on the one hand and disciplines such
as Geography, History and Politics on the other. How can visual media
help to develop an understanding of cultural diversity, cultural
difference and help advance intercultural awareness? The day will
consist of a keynote presentation, case study papers on aspects of
this theme focussing upon examples of classroom practice and there
will also be time for a general discussion.
