Colleagues, I'd always wondered whether that well-known Germanic scholar Russell Crowe would ever be discovered. Still, possibly a more authentic source for Gothic (or possibly early southern Anglo-Saxon - now there's a language waiting to be discovered!) would be a recording, if it exists, of Tolkien speaking Gothic in the annual play in Latin during his student days at Oxford (or was it Cambridge? - no difference to us plebs!). Anybody know if that exists? Pól. Dr Pol O Dochartaigh Senior Lecturer in German School of Languages and Literature Faculty of Arts University of Ulster Coleraine Co.
