Hi Andrew / all -- Andrew Savory wrote: [snip] > Do you really want to install a plugin on your > desktop without knowing what's in it or how it works? To be honest, "yes". That's exactly what I do when I install the Acrobat reader, or any other plug-in from a company which I trust. I /don't/ want to know exactly what's in it, or how it works, because life is too short for me to care : I want a product that works, and I am prepared to trust a reputable supplier to give me just that. Looked at from the opposite perspective, what possible benefit would I get from being able to look at (and compile) the source ? Would I ask for a "Z" specification, and then formally verify that the tool does what it claims to do and nothing more ? No, and neither would 99.99% of users. I have a job to do, and I trust those who supply me with the tools to do that job. Sorry, Andrew, I think we just have to disagree on this one! ** Phil.
