RESEARCH OFFICER/RESEARCH FELLOW
TRANSPORT NETWORK MODELLING AND OPTIMIZATION

This opportunity to join one of the UK’s top 5* rated research departments is available
to well qualified applicants in the field of mathematical modelling/ optimization. This post
is initially for a fixed two-year period.

In this EPSRC-funded project, mathematical models and optimization algorithms will be
developed for the interaction between the travel decisions of road network users and
the control measures of transport planners, to devise transport measures that maximise
the ‘social good’. Knowledge of the transport or optimization areas is not essential,
provided applicants are open-minded and enthusiastic to develop further their existing
mathematical skills in an applied context. A first or higher degree with a strong
mathematical element is essential. Applicants with a background in mathematics,
statistics or operational research would be particularly welcome. Good communication
and report writing skills are also desirable, as is an ability to work independently.

Salary Research IA (£18,265-£27,339 p.a.)
