ALT-C 2003: 8th-10th September, Sheffield

I am pleased to announce that registration has now opened for the key

conference in educational technology in the UK: ALT-C 2003. Hosted
jointly by Sheffield Hallam University and the University of
Sheffield, it will attract delegates from Europe, Australia, Canada
and the US, as well as drawing from the large constituency of
educationalists and learning technologists in the UK. I expect it to
be particularly topical since it is the 10th Anniversary of ALT, the
Association for Learning Technology.

Visit our web site on
http://www.shef.ac.uk/alt
and follow the links to the registration details.

The theme this year is Communities of Practice. The conference aims
to reflect this theme by offering rich opportunities for delegates to

participate in open discussion and debate through a series of
workshops, symposia and Communities of Practice sessions. Informed by

specialist facilitators, it will be possible for delegates to follow
and debate six sub-themes throughout the conference. In addition
there will be a strand dedicated to research papers which reflect the
same six sub-themes so that delegates can concentrate on these if
they so wish.

Keynote speakers are Professor Bob Fryer, Chief Executive of the NHS
University and Professor Shirley Alexander, Director of the Institute

for Interactive Media & Learning, University of Technology, Sydney;
Baroness Cathy Ashton, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the
DfES, will provide the government perspective.

There will also be a high profile debate on a current strategic issue
in mass e-learning.

For all of you involved in e-learning, whether as a practitioner, a
manager, a policy maker, a supplier or as an interested party, this
is an opportunity not to be missed. So visit
http://www.shef.ac.uk/alt
and register for what will undoubtedly be the UK event of 2003 in
Learning Technology.

My colleagues and I on the Organising Committee look forward to
seeing you there.
Professor Paul Bacsich, Programme Chair, ALT-C 2003
Professor of Telematics, Sheffield Hallam University
Director of Special Projects, UK eUniversities Worldwide Limited
