SCIENCE INFORMATION OFFICER £22,000 - £25,000 Due to the departure of a member of our team to work for Nature Online, the Science Media Centre at the Royal Institution has a vacancy for a Science Information Officer. The right candidate will be that rare breed of scientist who considers him or herself as a 'science generalist' who can devour and summarise large amounts of complex scientific information. He/she will be a science graduate with a PhD who relishes the prospect of working in a fast moving press office environment. Main tasks include: · Summarising the main weekly science journals and science press releases and advising the team on the research likely to attract media interest · Running the SMC's website · Overseeing the database of media-friendly scientists · Answering technical media queries · Researching and running press briefings on hot topics in science · Writing notes on all SMC Briefings This is perfect for someone who has done scientific research but is now keen to pursue a career in science communication.
