separationsNOW (http://www.separationsnow.com) is looking for freelance
science writers to write articles for its online magazine.
Launched in January 2003 by John Wiley & Sons Ltd, separationsNOW.com is
the new major "Community of Interest" website which is rapidly establishing
itself as the definitive separation science resource on the Internet. Rich
in content and with free access it provides high calibre, unbiased
information, resources and services to assist the community in its work.
separationsNOW contains six chromatography-based channels and a channel
devoted to genomics:
- Electrophoresis: capillary and gel electrophoresis and capillary
electrochromatography
- Gas chromatography
- High performance liquid chromatography including GPC and SEC
- Hyphenated separation techniques (eg GC-MS, LC-MS)
- Other separation techniques including ion chromatography, solid phase
extraction, chiral chromatography, TLC
- Genomics, including proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics,
microarrays, model systems, knockout techniques, systems biology
We're looking for freelance science writers to write articles for the
e-zine sections of each of these channels. Stories should be around 750
words and could cover:
- Analytical applications that use one (preferably more) of these
techniques and with real-world applications.
- Advances in genomics
- Significant advances in separation science and genomics
techniques/technologies/applications
- Interviews with key players in the field; reviews of work at major
institutions/groups/consortia; "State-of-the art": where is the science?
what are the key challenges?
- Major new programmes in separations science and genomics
- Quirky/offbeat applications
... or you could have your own idea!
separationsNOW will pay on a per-story basis, although we also want to hear
from science writers interested in a more regular contract. For examples of
past articles, see

ideas then please email the website manager, Paul Deards, at

past work.
