Ruth -

Both Imperial College (http://www.hstm.ic.ac.uk/) and UCL
(http://www.ucl.ac.uk/histmed/) have got well-established history of
science/medicine centres. I'm sure they could help. The UCL one is
funded by the Wellcome Trust.
